Being green and get some extra cash

As everyone is aware we have had a few weeks of bad weather and I'm sure we’ve all had are heating up to maximum. As architects we are always looking at environmentally friendly and sustainable ways of construction and technologies, whether this is latest insulation techniques, solar panels or recycling your rainwater.

Our Renewable Energy Consultants, Eco Environments Ltd, have recently informed us that by using some of these technologies can be used to earn money. Last year the Government announced details of the proposed “feed-in” tariff for microgeneration systems, such as small wind turbines and solar panels, which means, that from April 2010 owners of these systems will be paid for the electricity they generate, the owner will save by not having to buy the amount of electricity they generate, and they will be paid more for any surplus electricity they export. This whole process is automated by the systems and home owners can get up to £2,500 from The Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) grant scheme for domestic solar and wind turbine installations, however this will end as of 31st March 2010.
