The Grade II listed Church House occupies a prominent position on the corner of Hanover Street and Paradise Street, adjacent to the new John Lewis store and is one of the few privately owned buildings situated within the boundary of Grosvenor’s Liverpool ONE (Paradise Street) redevelopment area.
This building has been refurbished to provide 7500 sq.ft of Grade A office accommodation with 5000 sq.ft of A3 Commercial Use to the ground floor.
The buildings 1970’s interior office interior partitions and toilets have been removed to provide modern open plan office space whilst preserving the historical detailing of the listed building. Other interventions include new communal areas and a new access lift to all floors and the reintroduction of the basement area as usable space
The driving force behind the proposed design was to maintain a modern functional open plan office space without compromising the character of the internal features within the listed building but to contrast the two elements in order to provide a unique office experience. A successful element of this philosophy can be clearly distinguished within the exposure of the existing timber roof trusses within the third floor office accommodation.
The scheme illustrates the commitment given by SNOW and the local developers to the regeneration of Liverpool city centre and the conservation of the city’s heritage.
